Dead Island Screens Kick a Zombie Over the Edge

Posted on Monday, August 1 @ 09:42:23 Eastern by

Don't forget about Dead Island! The open-world, melee-focused first person shooter made a big splash earlier this year with its backwards-slow-motion trailer. The tropically-set zombie game come packed to the brim with zombies and the means by which to dispatch them. As tired as I am with zombies in games, I think Dead Island offers a fresh look at the genre. Introducing an experience system and skill tree couldn't hurt the zombie-slashing experience, and it doesn't hurt that there's be a bit of a lull since the last undead-murdering simulator.

Here are eight new screens for the game, due out September 6 in the United States and September 9 elsewhere.

I can't help but think this is gonna be the gameplay equivalent of babysitting an adhd kid who just smoke copious amounts of crack/cocaine.

Looks pretty cool but I think I'm going to wait on release or at least more gameplay videos... It seems to be VERY melee focused and I want to know how that will work out with you know a horde of zombies clawing over each other to tear you apart.
