Details On DLC For Mass Effect Trilogy

Posted on Monday, October 1 @ 11:38:19 Eastern by Keri_Honea

BioWare announced
the Mass Effect Trilogy just last week, but no word of the games' DLC was mentioned. Many have speculated that the DLC will not be included, and that's partially true. EA confirmed in writing what DLC or aspects, rather, of DLC will be included in the trilogy for PC and Xbox 360.

What DLC is included in the Mass Effect Trilogy?

  • On PC, Mass Effect will include Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station on disk. For Mass Effect 2, Cerberus Network will be included which features Zaeed – The Price of Revenge, The Firewalker Pack, Cerberus Assault Gear, Arc Projector heavy weapon, and Normandy Crash site mission. For Mass Effect 3, Online Pass will be included granting players access to co-op multiplayer.
  • On Xbox 360, Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station are not included with Mass Effect, however they are available as stand-alone downloads through Xbox LIVE. For Mass Effect 2, Cerberus Network will be included and Online Pass will be included for Mass Effect 3.
  • Information on PlayStation 3 DLC will be available soon.

Can't help but notice that Mass Effect 2 will not include two of the most important DLC, Lair of the Shadow Broker and Arrival. I also can't help but notice that there's no specific mention of the Extended Cut Ending for Mass Effect 3, which will come with the Wii U's release of the game. Surely that's included, they just didn't want to highlight it for redundancy's sake? Maybe?

If you're a newcomer to the series, looks like you'll be paying for the DLC like the rest of us already have. Considering that all three games will sell for the price of one original game, newcomers are still getting a hefty bargain.

Its EA, They would sell you "The definitive experience" and then want to sell you the rest of it in pieces.

Yeah I am really disappointed. I'm not looking to buy this but the fact that all of the DLC is not included pisses me off. I've already played all of it but for those trying to get into the franchise I think this might be something that turns them away. How many other companies with franchises younger than Mass Effect have released Complete Editions and GOTY editions that include ALL AVAILABLE DLC. I know it's a great deal for all of the standalone games, especially for PS3 owners but it should have everything. I think they could have gotten away with adding an extra $20 to the price tag and including all the DLC.

Ugh, the PC version of the orginal ME is not very good (I think they even outsourced it). Replacing the Simon Says QTEs to open the millions of containers in the game with Frogger is just annoying. Also it doesn't run so well, but then again, neither did the 360 version.

That said, the PC version of ME2 (which I got for free because I bought DA2) is my preferred way of playing, and ME3 is much the same (though I never played ME3 on console).

THe pc version also didnt support the kinect or the use of a xbox 360 controller. Its almost like they want to force you to play it on the xbox or buy two games its crazy.

I would even go so far as to spend $69.99 on it to get the rest of the DLC, possibly stretching it to $79.99. I guess this is the reason they thought they could bundle all three together for the price of a single game. Fuckers.

And just to make note I really like the mass effect series. I had fun and unique moments in it and like that I got to make my own decisions(at least the illusion) But Im also heavily resistant to DLC and technical problems with pc versions(It really shouldn't be that hard to make the pc version at least have xbox controller compatibility)

And to be fair I didnt like the endings before, Im glad that didn't actually change them but instead improved them and released them as a free dlc. The improvement put aside almost every problem I had with the ending.

Some games get this system more right than others though. bf3 premium one time payment systems is one system I bought into. I hate achievements but assignments give tangible rewards.
