Details On Vita's Addition To PlayStation Plus Coming Next Week

Posted on Friday, November 2 @ 12:33:18 Eastern by Jonathan_Leack

During this year's E3 it was announced that the PlayStation Vita would eventually be included in Plus' offerings, and now that time has almost come.

In reponse to a user's comment on the European PlayStation Blog, PlayStation Store Content Manager Chris Howe confirmed that details on Vita's integration into the PlayStation Plus service will be released next week.

Look out next week for some news on the PlayStation VITA plus service.

At $50/year Sony has an opportunity to attract more gamers to the PlayStation family by providing monthly content to enjoy on two separate devices. Truthfully, it's a big move by Sony as long as the content is anywhere near as generous as what the PlayStation 3 has received.

The PlayStation 3 side of Plus took a few months to really get going, but it has grown into a service that pays for itself in free content and noteworthy discounts. Since the Vita isn't even a year old you can expect it to start off slow and ramp up in its offerings as the Vita matures.

Stay tuned for full details on the service which should arrive early next week.

Can't wait! I probably have any of the free games they might offer, but it's still worth getting excited for if you're a subscriber already! More stuff is still more stuff.

THIS IS WHAT PLAYSTATION GO SHOULD HAVE BEEN.

ANOTHER STUPID MOVE BY SONY. I'd been screaming for years about having a touchscreen with dual analog sticks. Now they finally release it and it's completely obsolete compared to the average Android/iOS games. Those will cost you less than 10% of the cost of one of these damn games and the overal platform of a smartphone is better. Yes the physical controls are better, but it's too little too late.

    Cash strapped economy.

Kids are gonna bed mommy and daddy for a iPad Mini this christmas. I have YET to see a single kid with a VITA.

Whenever I see my nieces and nephews they always steal my Vita and huddle round it playing rayman and the like. Android/iOS games may be cheaper but the price difference compared to vita games really shows (most of the time).

With the launch of the PlayStation Mobile market on the Vita we might see surge of cheaper games making the console more attractive to parents, though it does still cost too much unless you can get a lucky deal. My Vita was £150 but the average price is about £200.

Trust me, you won't. The market is moving away from portable handheld consoles and the focus is smartphones. With the prices of this stuff, most people can't have both - so they choose the phone and it's instant access to social media.
