DICE’s Dawning DLC Delivering Definite Destruction

Posted on Tuesday, March 13 @ 11:09:36 Eastern by blake_peterson

DICE revealed at an after-hours GDC press event that Battlefield 3 would be receiving three new expansion packs. The first, focused on intense infantry combat in tight spaces, is Close Quarters, and a brief trailer showed intense combat in high-rise interiors and vertical spaces.

Two developers, General Manager at DICE Carl Magnus Troedsson and Executive Producer Patrick Bach, mentioned the expansion packs would also feature new weapons and highlighted that they would expand the game with a similar impact to Back to Karkand.

The second expansion, Armored Kill, will focus on vehicular combat while the third expansion, Endgame, is still too far out for them to provide details. Release information for the latter two was not provided, but after the trailer for Battlefield 3: Close Quarters finished, its release date was revealed as June 1, with the expansion arriving a week early for Playstation 3.

Playable map from the Close Quarters expansion was available for play at the event, but impressions will have to wait until the embargo lifts.

Here's to hoping that the Close Quarters maps don't turn into a U-SAS frag round playground!

Yes... the nerf on frag rounds is supposedly already in the works so we better be updated by the time this rolls in. I'm actually more interested in the new weapons than the tiny maps... which is kind of weak.

i read that the main nerf is going to be on the fire rate for the U-SAS and MK3A1 hopefully this will have the desired effect. And yea i think the only reason i'll be buying this DLC is for the 10 new assignments, really enjoyed working my way through the last 10

You're angry at an alliterative allocation of wild wonderful words arranged in superlative sentence segments? Bummer.
