E3: PC or rather about the lack of it

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

DmC Devil May Cry To Bring 60 FPS Action To PC On January 25th

Posted on Thursday, December 13 @ 13:43:19 Eastern by Jonathan_Leack

Nice jeans.

Capcom has announced that DmC Devil May Cry is scheduled to release on January 25th for PC. That's only 10-days after its console launch, and to make up for the additional wait Capcom is promising a fulfilled PC version running at 60 FPS as opposed to the 30 FPS cap on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. In addition, it'll be available through Steam with achievements included.

For AMD users, Eyefinity will be supported at launch. Capcom Senior Producer, Alex Jones, said the following about its implementation in the press release:

DmC Devil May Cry’s performance on AMD is amazing, it pumps our already incredible visuals and effects to the next level, making it an even more immersive and intense experience.

This all sounds good, but you're going to need the proper PC to run this bad boy. Thankfully, the official minimum and recommended system requirements are available. See below.
Minimum System Requirements:
OS: Windows Vista/XP, Windows 7, Windows 8
Processor: AMD Athlon X2 2.8 Ghz or better,
Intel Core2 Duo 2.4 Ghz or better
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Hard Disk Space: 8 GB free hard drive space
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 3850 or better,
NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS or better
DirectX: 9.0c or greater
Sound: Standard audio device

Recommended System Requirements:
OS: Windows Vista/XP, Windows 7, Windows 8
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 3 Ghz or better,
Intel Core2 Quad 2.7 Ghz or better
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Hard Disk Space: 9 GB free hard drive space
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 6950 or better
DirectX: 9.0c or greater
Sound: Standard audio device
Capcom is giving AMD the nod with DMC Devil May Cry, so we'll have to see how it turns out for Intel and Nvidia-based hardware. The recommended specs are certainly in the mid-tier, so we might see some noticeable visual improvements on the PC front.

Lastly, here's a trailer for your viewing pleasure:

Im glad to hear its going to come to pc but the 60 fps limit? Its the unreal engine 3 which for almost all games using it(not all) Usually you can tweak the engine settings .ini and increase the frame rate cap.

I notice you comment a lot about wanting 120 FPS. I think developers don't do this often because 120Hz monitors aren't popular enough yet. They are more expensive, and not to mention that most people don't have the SLI/Crossfire setup to run 120FPS. The only game I have seen so far with that option is Borderlands 2.

Actually a lot of games do support raising the fps cap to 120fps. It is true not all developers support it and I dont really mind when they dont as long as they dont hardcap the engine(I only remember one ue3 game ever doing that). Often times then its as simple as just tweaking some files. I never hold it against a developer as long as you can tweak it yourself. 120hz is a niche group along with 3d users, surround or eyefinity, and larger than 1080p displays. the latter will become the more popular and focused group in the future.

I remember when 1920x1080 resolution wasn't the norm yet and people were still using 1024x768 resolutions. Give it another 2-3 years and all this will be more affordable and more standard.

I think I might as well. I played the PS3 version at E3 and it was ridden with freezing. Obviously the game's development wasn't finished but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Oh wait, did we all forget the terrible Devil May 3: Special Edition port? That game was nearly unplayable. Now I'm a bit scared.

Its ue3 so its a pretty good guess that it wont be. Batman: Arkham City was one of the few exceptions.

I forgot about that. Rocksteady said they just used UE3 as a base and implemented their own tools and tech into the engine. Probably the only devs I know that does that with UE3.

    Alright PC! Wooho-

Wait, Capcom. Don't they have this huge love affair with GFWL? Ah... forgive me if I don't lay down the preorder right away.
