REVIEWSGRiD 2 Review
Grid 2 surprised me. I was going through the motions, getting used to the cars and their handling, when suddenly something happened. I started having fun.
State of Decay Review
Undead Lab's zombie-infested action title has finally hit XBLA. Is it worth a few of your precious Microsoft Points, or should you whack it over the head with a two-by-four and continue on your merry way?
E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...
This. This is why you play Battlefield on the PC. Not on Xbox 360, not on PS3, not on your dinky little phone. You play Battlefield games on the PC for this express purpose. Absolutely MASSIVE battles, tons of vehicles, objective points, and squads all add up to one thing:
You'll be installing Origin in October.
This Capsian Sea multiplayer video shows off the 64-player multiplayer matches the PC version of Battlefield 3 is capable of. DICE also brought the co-op multiplayer build of Battlefield 3 for the PS3 to Gamescom, and we'll have more information on that later.
I first though the "DUH DUH D-DUM-DUM" in the title of this blog post was referencing the Flight of the Valkyries. Nope, it's the theme from the trailer, though I'd say it's more of a "DAAAH, DAAAH, D-DAAH-DUM".
No, the Terminator Theme is "DA-DUM, DA, DA-DUM". Not the same rhythm at all, though mildly similar. Although it could be worse, it could have gone "Da-da-da-da-DAAA-DAAA-DAAAA, Da-da-da-da-DAA-DAA-DAAAA-AAAAH".
Darn it... i thought it was gonna be the "Mars bringer of war" But i guess it's just some random DUN DUN song... What? that's the theme of battlefield? The Joel Eriksson guy? Man did they butcher the song...
I don't understand the whole omg origin blows argument, I d/loaded it when i was invited to the BF3 alpha and it still had my BF 2142 game sitting on my account ready for installing bearing in mind I havent played that since '07, also when playing the alpha Origin worked really well and the new battlelog system is pretty great not sure how much i'd be allowed to talk about it, but it is very well designed around a social gaming experience, and now I sound like an EA plant especially since this is my first comment.

fix the link above and go read under your digital download rights for Origin. You are only allowed to download the game for one year after purchase. Supposedly I've heard they might be removing this BS idea but still no official change on there website. I don't like EA, I don't like there business model and they have ruined more good games then I can count. I don't see the point of origin nor the need of it with how well steam works and is already set up. The only reason it is there is because EA wanted a peace of the pie Steam had and while from a business standpoint I can see the logic in this... From a consumer point I will trash-talk the bloody system till it dies in a fire like it deserves. I could rant on other reasons as well but its almost 4am and I need sleep. And no one got my battlefield reference with the jeep c4 running :( Sad dragon
ugh its to damn late. I wrote that first part badly. To clarify, after one year you are no longer have the rights to download your game off the origin service. Basically your key expires after a year and you have to call or contact EA to get it renewed currently
Q: Will my game download ever expire? A: Digital download rights remain available for at least one year after purchase. Origin typically doesn’t retire games, and we’ve only retired around 10 of the 150 games we sell, and these have generally been because of the expiration of licensing rights. If you come across an issue, simply contact Origin Help and we'll reconfigure things for you.
So in effect they guarantee a year for every game and clarify that the vast majority of their library will be available forever. I'm not an EA fanboy, I am a fan of games not the publishers, but in their defence EA may have "ruined" some good games but they also produce very many good games and they often buy out successful small scale developers giving them the aid of their vast resources DICE being a key example. There is a reason that EA are one of the biggest publishers in the world in the same way that Walmart are the biggest retailer or Starbucks etc. It is very easy to knock big business' but everyone started small they got so large because they were successful.

That is just a legalese disclaimer to head off frivolous lawsuits. Pretty standard stuff these days, and really does not add anything to the conversation. It says nothing about the time frame you get to download your game, which is what Merlin is bellyaching about.
I've been waiting for this since BF2, gonna be sick. I was debating whether to get it for PS3 or PC but deep down I knew the answer
"This. This is why you play Battlefield on the PC. Not on Xbox 360, not on PS3, not on your dinky little phone. You play Battlefield games on the PC for this express purpose. Absolutely MASSIVE battles, tons of vehicles, objective points, and squads"
Truer words were never spoken. Now if only my PC could handle this :( Have they come out with specs yet???
your missing the point. You only have the right to download it for one year after the date purchased. the retire part in what your reading is them removing the game from there service. You still have to contact EA after your one year of digital download rights to renew the exasperation date on your game. This is something Valve doesn't do. The thing you quoted with them has already been pointed out as a general legal statement. If I want to boot up my copy of Bioshock right now on steam I could simply click and download. I could do not such thing on the Origin service if I had bought the game when it came out through them. I would have to e-mail or call up EA to prove I own the game for them to release me the right to download a game I already own. And that's utter bullshit.
How did I miss the point? I read your post, went to the FAQ page you suggested, quoted the FAQ in question where it does not say Anything about having to renew your key every year, could you imagine the ball-ache that would be for EA, A year from release when everyone rings them to renew they keys?, after I posted I installed and loaded up BF 2142 a game I purchased from EA downloader (new name origin) 5 years ago and guess what I didnt have to do anything, same as when I load up any of my 100+ steam games. This isnt about Origin or Steam this is about you saying things as if they are fact, please show me the lines where it details that you Definately have to renew every year, because I have followed your advice, I then tested a game and have found no evidence of this. If you can prove it then fine i'll agree with you.
Let me break this down in legal terms because your still missing my point and also to your question about the renewing of licensees if they do expire. Google it, I am not here to hold your hand.
A: Digital download rights remain available for at least one year after purchase.
Legally they only need to offer you the game for one year after your initial purchase

This has very little to do with the first half. This is more based on the fact games on there service will not be going anywhere unless they run into a license issue.
In short Steam has something similar built into there system but without the one year statement. The point here is a matter of trust and confidence in the company.
And one more thing as I am done with this argument.
As i stated above its more about trust and faith in the company. Legal terms are legal terms that's why they are there. To cover companies assets. I don't like EA, I don't trust them and I have much more faith in Valve as a company then I do EA. Case in Point Ea's CEO recent statement.
(EA CEO John Riccitiello harshly criticized Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, claiming that the game had "jumped the shark" and saying that he hoped it would "Rot from the core.")
REALLY? how unprofessional can you be. I'll put my faith in a company that has morals
