EA Confirms This Year's Madden Will Be Called Madden 25

Posted on Friday, February 1 @ 10:03:10 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Electronic Arts has announced a new Madden game for 2013. Shocker, we know. The real news here, however, is the fact that they won't be giving the game a traditional year-tagged title. Instead, in celebration of the series' 25th anniversary, the game will be called Madden NFL 25. [Just to confuse us when Madden 2025 comes around.. ~Ed. Nick]

“There’s no better way to celebrate and mark the culmination of 25 years of innovation than by naming this year’s game Madden NFL 25,” EA Sports' Cam Weber said. “This year’s game will push the boundaries with gameplay and feature innovations that will lay a very strong foundation for the next 25 years of this storied franchise.”

Gamers will get a chance to vote on the title's cover, but instead of choosing from a selection of current stars, you'll be voting on a bracket of 32 “all-time NFL greats.” Who do you think should be on the cover? Let us know in the comments below.

Madden NFL 25 launches on August 27th.

John Earl Madden is a former American professional football player in the National Football League, a former Super Bowl-winning head coach with the Oakland Raiders in the American Football League and later the NFL, and a former color commentator for NFL telecasts. He is also widely known for the long-running Madden NFL video game series he has endorsed and fronted since 1988.
