LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

EA Labels President Confirms He Has Seen Sony And Microsoft's Next-Gen Consoles

Posted on Thursday, August 16 @ 11:00:00 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

While we hardly need confirmation from EA labels president Frank Gibeau to convince us that there's a new Xbox and PlayStation on the horizon, it's hard not to get excited when a big name publishing exec references them specifically. During gamescom, Gibeau teased gamers by saying that he has laid eyes upon both Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles.

"I've seen both of them," he said in reference to the Xbox 360 and PS3 successors. Gibeau also went on to speak to the future of the industry, saying that "Ten years ago we used to measure our market in terms of 200 million people. Now we are at a billion people playing games and we have a straight line view on 2 billion."

The gaming industry is growing at a rapid rate and I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see what Microsoft and Sony have up their sleeves for the next generation.

Please, don't keep us waiting too much longer.

It's pretty obvious, lol. I don't think there is a single game that has been announced for 2014, which is a huge hint...

Shht! My career as a psychic is just starting.
It would be funny if they did a big sale for PS3s and X360s and after a month they announced their new consoles coming out for holidays! Mass hysteria!

An early announcement isn't exactly a good thing. Either way we have to wait over a year to buy it. I say they just wait until Summer next year to show it off that way people aren't bored waiting for over a year.

I'd rather they announce it and then launch 2 months later, that'd be funny to see. lol

If they announce too soon, then the hype fizzles and consumers start to ignore it. A month or two before launch is pretty much perfect for a general announcement. That leaves plenty of time to build up the hype, without leaving too much time for the hype to die out.

What Mr. Leack said. The WiiU is the perfect case in point. Certain high-level leaks forced Nintendo to announce it in summer 2011, and it's all been downhill from there. It's always best to keep quiet until you have some solid info to give to the public.

They don't want people to stop buying games for the 360 & PS3 and just wait for the new consoles!

Announce them then say they will be available in stores later today. Kind of like what Microsoft did with the slim Xbox 360.

I can't afford a new system yet, new pc is priority at the moment so I'll be patient and wait. I do feel sorry for those who have had their console since launch though, hell of a wait.

I feel they'll wait until E3 next year to make E3 better than...well, you know.
