E3: PC or rather about the lack of it

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

Epic Games Purchases People Can Fly

Posted on Monday, August 13 @ 10:33:55 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Polish developer People Can Fly has just been purchased by Epic Games. This shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, considering the studio is currently working on the Gears of War prequel Judgment and is also the team behind the smart-mouthed shooter Bulletstorm.

This news comes coupled with the announcement that a few key members from Epic Games and People Can Fly have left the Gears of War Judgment team. Despite being one of the individuals who left, creative director Adrian Chmielarz spoke highly of the project, saying: “Gears fans, you’re going to love Judgment. It’s in great hands. And don’t worry, you’ll hear about my plans soon enough.”

Epic's Mark Rein spoke to The Verge about the acquisition of People Can Fly, alluding to the fact that the move has been long overdue. "We doubled down on People Can Fly. It was something we always hoped to do.”

Yeah, this is no surprise. I already acted like they were a sub-division of Epic Games. I remember reading about Gears having a FPS approach. Instead of a FPS Gears game, Epic should just create an original FPS game. Bulletstorm was pretty fun. I loved their slow motion to add combos. If Epic can use that ability and have an original story, I can see something great.

So when you say original FPS, you pretty much want Bulletstorm: Take 2

No, I mean new story and different stuff to do. The combos in Bulletstorm was fun and had an arcade kind of stye to that. If they used that into something new and added a great story, the game would kick ass.

The Writers are pretty funny for this game and bairds voice actor is pretty god damn funny. So I expect great things even if I'm not a big fan of Gears anymore.

No wonder after how much a letdown bulletstorm was by the end. Not that it was a bad game but man cliffy B likes to hype up high B rate games(Yes I think gears of war gets a B+ in my book.) and bullsetstorm also would only get a B

Bulletstorm was A- gameplay wrapped in an F+ story. People Can Fly makes amazing shooter gameplay, full stop. But for some reason (unlike with Painkiller), they decided that the game had to have all the trappings of modern shooters, including abysmal dialogue with worthless teammates, contrived opening and closing segments, Obligatory 'on-rails' segments that eschew the mechanics that make the game so awesome in the first place, and a tone-deaf plot that can't decide whether or not to take itself seriously. If they had taken all those resources and put them into creating a few more interesting conflicts, I think the game would have been better for it.
