Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

ESRB Rates Game Gear Games For 3DS

Posted on Thursday, February 2 @ 08:04:32 Eastern by

It's been almost a full year since Nintendo announced at GDC 2011 that Game Gear and TurboGrafx-16 titles would be made available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop's Virtual Console at some point and time. That point and time is still unclear, but if a new listing on the Entertainment Software Ratings Board is any indication, a pair of Game Gear titles will be arriving somewhat soon.

Listings for Shinobi and Sonic Triple Trouble for the Game Gear have been re-rated for the Nintendo 3DS recently, and while release dates aren't apart of that ESRB listing, it generally means that they're close to release--like within the next couple of months.

The two titles will mark the first non-Nintendo games to appear on the 3DS.

I'm glad to see Game Gear games making an appearance, as it gives me hope to see Columns on the 3DS.

Being able to play Game gear games on the 3DS is awesome, but, it doesn't change the fact that Game Gear games were HORRIBLE. The Graphics were good, but, when it comes to game leveling, it's as if they were targeting adults rather than kids. ALL OF THEIR GAMES WERE RIDICULOUSLY DIFFICULT.

GLOC, Sonic, Sonic 2, Shinobi... the list goes on and on.

In fact, all of Sega's games had ridiculous difficulty ramp ups.
