Even Crash Bandicoot Looks Good on CryEngine 2

Posted on Wednesday, April 20 @ 11:58:16 Eastern by Blake_Morse
Some brave and talented modder out there has taken it upon themselves to show Sony and the rest of the internet at large just how wonderful life would be with an HD version of one of the strangest mascots of all time, Crash Bandicoot.

In contrast it's pretty amazing how much of a leap graphics have made since the PS1 days, but it's even more remarkable that PS1 games are still as enjoyable today as they were when they originally came out. God, I'm getting old. At least my eyes are still good enough to see how great Crash looks running on the CryEngine 2. Hopefully Sony takes notes here. At the very least, I hope it doesn't end like the Streets of Rage remake.

As a Crash fan, I can't help but notice a few things.

This seems to be adding quite a few Crash 2 features in, namely the Body Slam, Reinforced Crates, Nitro Boxes, Crystals and the upgraded box counter on the HUD.

Oh, and in the fifth picture, the Aku Aku mask should really be the upgraded Orange version, not the smaller-yet-more-accurate green one.

If they can fix the animation, I'm playing this.
But Sony never owned Crash. He belongs to *shivers* Activision.

Looks good, the animations of Crash need a bit more work. Also, those floaty physics need to go. I'm not sure how possible that last one is, though.
