First Image Of Circle Pad Pro Redesign For 3DS XL Surfaces

Posted on Thursday, September 20 @ 09:38:08 Eastern by Alex_Osborn
Yeah, we were all bummed when Nintendo revealed that the revised version of its handheld wouldn't include a second Circle Pad, but the company assured us that they'd be releasing an add-on for the XL akin to what we saw for the original 3DS.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present the Circle Pad Pro XL!

Aside from a few slightly more curvaceous edges and the obvious size increase, it looks pretty much the same as the first iteration of the add-on.

There's currently no word on when it will be available, so if you're screaming at your 3DS XL in frustration while trying to sneak through the jungle in Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, just take a deep breath, put the device down and find something else to play. It's only a matter of time before the super-sized Circle Pad Pro hits a retailer near you, and believe me, you'll be glad you waited.

I've come to believe that the very idea of the Circle Pad Pro is a cynical ploy by Nintendo to take advantage of their customers for more money. The 3DS works just fine without a second analog controller, but folks still insist they must have one. And rather than pointing out that they don't need it, Nintendo says, "OK, pay us another $20. Here you go!"

If people will buy it you can't blame Nintendo for making it

Hey, I didn't say that Nintendo wasn't smart for doing this, but it's still pretty cynical.

So....we are making the XL even larger now? At some point this thing is not going to be portable anymore.
