First Image Of Dragon Age III: Inquisition Hits The Web

Posted on Thursday, November 15 @ 09:42:41 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Last night, during the Bradford Animation Festival, BioWare's Art and Animation Director Neil Thompson gave a presentation detailing the studio's upcoming RPG, Dragon Age III.

During the presentation, one sneaky Twitter user by the name of dripster managed to get a photo (pictured above) of what was initially believed to be a screenshot of the game. Since then, Chris Priestly, BioWare's community manager has spoken out on the studio's official forums to clarify that this is not in fact a screenshot, but merely a piece of concept art.

Regardless, it's kind of hard to make out much from the image anyway, aside from some obviously visible rocks, a statue and blue sky. Hopefully it won't be all too long before we see some actual in game footage—after all, that's what really counts.

Are you hyped for Inquisition, or were you burned so badly by Dragon Age II that you've managed to lose interest in the series entirely? Let us know in the comments below.

I actually enjoyed DAII more than the first game (recycled dungeons notwithstanding). It was a beautifully crafted story with great choices that made me question my allegiances several times.

Really looking forward to the sequel.

Same here. I am also more curious in either the Templars got weaker or not after the whole Dragon age 2 incident.

DA 2 had such awful storytelling, I honestly cannot remember much about it. Plus the characters were so unlikable and boring I didn't care what happened to them.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I loved Origins but DA2 felt like a step backwards in a few ways, I beat it but I don't remember much of anything about it. I liked how the combat was faster and I liked the art style (even though it still wasn't anything unique) and I hope there's a greatly reduced emphasis on romance in DA3.

I hated DA1 two handed warrior. They fixed it in DA2 but the story was considerably less epic. Im fallen out of love with Bioware specially after the original doctors have left.

DA2 was the first Bioware game I didn't buy. I am hoping DA3 gets back to RPG mechanics and tactics to complement a (hopefully) outstanding narrative. Probably wishful thinking though. Sourdeez is on the money here. Now that the doctors are gone its BioWare in name only.

There's two ways they can make it better than Dragon Age II.

1 - Keep Jennifer Hepler (and other assorted paid fanfic writers) as far away from the damn project as humanly possible.

2 - When drawing on previous games in the series, pretend DA2 never got made.

Yeah, I'm not sure how DA III will work out. I didn't like the story and mechanics of DA II that much, but the entire game seemed to be setting up the stage for a much more interesting story concerning the mages and templars than the one that was actually in DA II. Certainly that didn't work out for DA II itself, but it does make me hope for something good in DA III.

Also, what was with the combat in DA II? It goes on about strategic placement of party members from time to time, but all the strategic placement in the world becomes meaningless when there are always an extra two waves of enemies that come in from every direction. They really had too much combat in that game.

Screen immediately reminded me of an Elder Scroll game for some reason. Didn't bother playing DA2 but might buy it if it's like $10 now

I'd be much more interested in the next Witcher game. Although I did really enjoy DAO.
