Fruit Ninja Kinect Sells Half A Million, Jetpack Joyride Downloaded 14 Million Times

Posted on Wednesday, February 8 @ 17:00:00 Eastern by

One of our favorite iPhone games has cause for celebration today as developer Halfbrick announces that it's officially passed 14 Million downloads. That's insane! 13 Million of those downloads have occurred since Jetpack Joyride went free to play in mid-December of last year.

That means only a Million gamers paid $0.99 for the app. Never fear, Chief Marketing Officer Phil Larsen told journalists at the DICE conference in Las Vegas that 5-10 percent of customers have spent at least a dollar on the free app meaning they've made quite a bit more money since going free to play.

Larsen also says Joyriders should look out for the next update:

There's an update coming in the next month. It's the biggest one we've done so far.

Oh, and Fruit Ninja Kinect has reached a half-million sales figure, essentially proving that the company could do well on consoles as well. I'd be wary about losing one of the best mobile developers to the home console market though. Fruit Ninja obviously did well because of it's name-recognition with the Kinect-purchasing crowd.
