Fuse Delayed To Next Fiscal Year

Posted on Wednesday, January 30 @ 15:04:43 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

We were expecting Insomniac's new cooperative shooter to launch in just a couple of months, but Electronic Arts has just announced that this will no longer be the case.

Instead, Fuse will release during the first quarter of EA's 2014 fiscal year, which spans the months of April, May, and June. Peter Moore, the COO over at Electronic Arts explained why the game will be delayed during an earnings call, saying that this will give Insomniac time to do some “extra work” which will result in a “big payout.”

With so many games slated for launch this February and March, maybe it will work out for the best. I don't know about you, but I'm saving my pennies for Tomb Raider and BioShock Infinite.

I have high hopes for Fuse, but I'm not sure of it's fate. On the one hand, it's Insomniac games. Awesome developer, even if they've hit a few bumps in the road recently. On the other hand, EA Partners. Why is it that games published through them don't sell well? Brütal Legend, Kingdoms of Amalur, those are the only two games that come to mind that, while not perfect, deserved to make some sort of profit.

How many commercials did you see for those games? I doubt Fuse will have anything besides a launch trailer shown on TV. The extra time might save this game, as an experience, but the complete lack of marketing is going to kill it in sales.
