Grand Theft Auto V Characters Leaked

Posted on Tuesday, March 29 @ 11:07:52 Eastern by

There aren't many games that have had the same impact in the industry that Grand Theft Auto has. The franchise has helped define the past two console generations, with each installment being more successful than the next.

It's been quite a few years now since a GTA title has been released. But because of the success that GTA has had, and the cash that comes with that success, we know that a new GTA is coming - it's just a matter of when, not if.

And with any title that's this anticipated, there's bound to be a number of leaks leading up to the eventual reveal of the next installment. Just last week, comedian Gilbert Gottfried tweeted about his leading role in the Grand Theft Auto V, but quickly removed the tweet. Now, just days later, some of the supporting characters have been leaked via a casting call put out by GTA publisher, Take Two.

Now, by looking at the casting call above there isn't any direct mention of GTA, only its publisher. However, the character, James Pedeaston, has been mentioned by name in previous GTA games. According to the Grand Theft Wiki:

James Pedeaston is a child molester wanted in Malaysia and is being investigated by the FBI. He hosted The Wild Traveler show on WCTR in 1992, although it is apparently syndicated to nine other stations (not heard in-game). He enjoys traveling the world and logging some of his most 'exotic' encounters in his travelogue, some of which he accidentally reads on-air to the disgust of the listeners. His favourite memory seems to be a relationship with a boy named Avrindar in Sri Lanka. His show appears to be so reviled by his listeners that at one point, he receives few calls which are not supportive. For example, a caller tells him to stop droning on about other countries and focus on talking about where he lives. At one point he received a phone call from a suicidal man in Verdant Bluffs who wanted to go to hell. Pedeaston replies with "Me too! Buy me a refrigerator magnet when you get there". In GTA IV, he was arrested by the Indonesian police after being suspected of child molesting in Bali, Indonesia in 2003.

There's also a website in GTAIV that links to Pedeaston's legal fund donation. The same site, freejames.org, brings you to an official Rockstar Games website for GTAIV.

While a casting call isn't much to go on, it does reveal some of the characters you can expect to interact with in GTAV, and it does prove that the game is reaching milestones in its development cycle.

Hopefully, we'll see more on GTAV at E3 in June, but without the voice of Iago in Aladdin playing lead role (I don't think I can sit through that for 20+ hours).

Ummm.... hmm Normally I would be prepared to say that a character like this pedophile dude wouldn't make it past research and development, but this is GTA.
