You know, I've practically had my fill of Gears of War 3's multiplayer mode. Epic Games and Microsoft packed plenty of content into their highly publicized beta earlier this year, leaving gamers to wonder what the game's Single and Horde modes would bring.     I can't tell if they're kidding. Gears has some of the most ridiculous, two-dimensional characters I have ever met. They're all military game/movie stereotypes (Leader, Family Man, Warlover, Complainer), and the writing has the emotional density of a balloon animal. Sure Dom, just keep jacking off about how much you love Maria even though no one can imagine your musclebound mind dealing with any issues related to raising a family. And oh hey neither can the writers--this is great! We get all of the cheap emotional drama with none of the messy character interaction. Blam! Back to the war!

    Dom and Maria have a less well-developed relationship than the paddle and ball in Pong, is what I'm trying to say.
