Gears of War 3 Transfer Cable Is Late But Here Now

Posted on Monday, September 26 @ 10:52:33 Eastern by

Those who purchased the new 320GB Gears of War 3 console were likely left scratching their head over how to transfer data from one Xbox 360 Slim to another. Well, Major Nelson has just announced that they have the new transfer cable ready for you (image enlarged above).

It's still a shame, though, that these cables will need to be purchased as an extra and that it took about two weeks between the release of Gears of War 3 before this was officially announced. In that time, most people afflicted had to find other means of transferring the data,, with one commenter rogXue having "to pick apart [his] old system".

Don't pay for it. Just redownload games and transfer any save files with a USB stick.... or can you not do that?

You can. but large enough USB's are expensive and doing it with a small one is very time consuming and repetitive

Whats different between the last migration cable in this one? I bought the Gears console and was planning on transferring my data using the attachment plug in the old 360 hdd on the new slim hdd.

I believe this cable is specifically for transferring between Xbox 360 Slims.

the issue with the new hard drives is that they are SATA drives, like in your laptop. You could theoretically attach them to a computer using a SATA cable and drag all your stuff to your desktop, then swap the new drive over and drag all your stuff to the new drive. This could also damage the drive if microsoft has any software on there that may prevent being able to do this, which I'd say is probably the case. I just threw my 250gb drive from my Halo Reach console into the Gears console, not a big deal, only 70gb difference... which could be needed when RAGE comes out. ha.

So its now 6 months after this announcement, just wondering if you knew whether there was any developments from microsoft on this cable? Just that I still have my gears 3 console in its box and really wish to use it for its purpose along with all my previous gaming data. So yeah let me know
