God of War: Ascension Collector's Edition Announced

Posted on Wednesday, June 13 @ 09:58:56 Eastern by Jonathan_Leack

If any developer knows how to put together a collector's edition, SCE Santa Monica Studio is an easy choice. The God of War III Ultimate Edition was a beautiful package that sold out quickly and included some spectacular goodies. Now, the series' next game has a special package of its own and it looks even more appetizing.

A God of War: Ascension Collector's Edition has been announced on the PlayStation Blog, and while it won't cost as much as the God of War III equivalent, it's going to pack a punch of its own. Below is what it will include for the price of $79.99:
  • Premium steel book game case
  • 8" Kratos statue
  • Official game soundtrack (digital)
  • PS3 dynamic theme
  • PSN avatar pack
  • Double XP points code for multi-player
  • Code to unlock all future DLC content
If you're planning to play the multi-player for a while then the double XP points will be helpful, but the Kratos statue and game case are must-haves for any God of War fan. The Pandora's box from the God of War III CE was fantastic, so the premium case this time around should be worth displaying in your room.

As with other collector's editions supply will be limited, so head over to your favorite retailer and pre-order now.

On top of this exciting announcement the release date for God of War: Ascension—and its CE—was announced to be March 12th, 2013. It'll be a while, but knowing how quickly time passes it won't be long before we're ripping out elephant brains and repairing wooden docks.

Stay tuned for photos of this well-priced collector's edition as well as any additional details.

I'm not a big enough God of War fan to justify this purchase, but I'm guessing the diehard fans out there are struggling with their wallets.

I can't get excited about this God of War as I thought 3 was a huge let down for me. It was to be the culmination of this epic story and it lasted about 4 1/2 hours. I know you guys gave it a good review but I thought that was simply BS. Looked pretty, just wouldn't go on another date.

Depending on how much the DLC will run, it's possible that buying this would actually save you money in the long run. Of course that depends on good the multiplayer turns out to be. I doubt that I'll be buying this, I only buy one special edition a year (it's good for my wallet), and I don't like GoW so much that I'd make this that one purchase.

The God of War series is the best in gaming and God of War III is easily the best game I've played in 20 years of gaming, the troll named shandog137 is a just a bitter philistine who can't appreciate brilliance, the game is at least 10 hours long on the first play through, the majority of people take around 12 hours to beat it on their first play through according to a poll conducted with over 2500+ participants.

God of War III is the most critically acclaimed, best selling and most beloved game in the genre of all time for the reason being that it's the epitome of a masterpiece, go buy the game NOW if you haven't already and pre-order God of War: Ascension!

I've pre-ordered this already, a lot of people have going by Amazon.com the collector's edition is now the 7th best selling product in games and hardware across all platforms and has been in the top 10 for 7 days.

As soon as I can pre-order the collector's edition in the UK I will, God of War III is practically perfect and if the new game can match it or perhaps even top it, I'll be so happy! :D

That is a bloody brilliant collection and price! I was going to buy the game day 1 anyway for £40 but all that extra stuff for just a little more money? Hell yes, the Kratos statue alone is worth it and all the other stuff just seals the deal.
