God of War Director Leaves Sony Santa Monica

Stig Asmussen, a developer who was heavily involved in theGod of Wartrilogy, has parted ways with Sony's Santa Monica Studio.

Sony confirmed his departure toIGN, saying, "SCEA can confirm that Stig Asmussen is no longer with Santa Monica Studio."

Asmussen worked on the original PS2 title as an environment artist, the sequel as Art Director, andGod of War IIIas Creative Director. Instead of getting involved in the development of last year's prequel entryGod of War: Ascension,Asmussen went off to begin work on a completely new project; one that is thought to be canceled following the recent bout of layoffs at the studio.
