Grand Theft Auto III Coming to iOS, Android

Rockstar Games has announced that the 10th Anniversary Edition of Grand Theft Auto III will be coming to select iOS and Android devices. They've only given "later this fall" as a release timeframe, and it's only available to the devices listed below:
  • Apple iOS Devices: iPad 2, iPhone 4S
  • Android Phones: Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S2
  • Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
In addition to the mobile re-release, Rockstar has announced a super-expensive limited edition collectible figurine of GTAIII's main character, Claude. The 1:6 scale Claude figurine is produced by collectible manufacturer Sideshow, and will be available for $149.99 at Rockstar Warehouse for pre-order in the coming days.     And here I was wondering if it was possible to make the shooting controls for GTA3 even more awkward.

    Just imagining trying to play GTAIII with touch controls makes me wince.

    I'd be fine with this Andoid/iOS port if somebody were to release an adjustable attachment that gave the phones proper buttons and a joystick or two. Or at the very least, a corded controller that plugs into the phones. I saw that before for older phones, but I don't think it'd work for newer smartphones.
