Grand Theft Auto III Coming To PSN Next Week As PS2 Classic

Posted on Friday, July 27 @ 10:11:17 Eastern by

While you wait for Grand Theft Auto V's eventual release, you may consider reliving some of the classic GTA titles that helped to propel the franchise into stardom. Starting next week on the PlayStation Network, Sony will make it easier than ever to play with the game that started it all (those first two GTA games just aren't on the same level).

On July 31st, Grand Theft Auto III will arrive on PSN as a PS2 Classic. This is a straight port, so don't expect any HD makeover. The game is a steal at $9.99.

This also means that GTA: Vice City and San Andreas aren't too far off.

This hasn't aged quite as gracefully as VC or SA. I'm still jelly though. I have the iPad version but the controls are hilariously poor, of course.

I played it around the clock when it first came out. But after playing Vice City and San Andreas...eh, I just couldn't go back to it.

Not sure I can go back to the **** controls... I'll probably buy it anyway for nostalgia's sake.
