Grand Theft Auto V Almost Complete?

Posted on Tuesday, June 21 @ 08:01:01 Eastern by

For a while there, we would have bet that Grand Theft Auto V would have made an appearance at E3 2011. All of those casting call slip-ups and Gilbert Gottfried tweeting that he'd be playing the lead role, really had us going.

E3 came and went, but nothing on the best-selling franchise. Developer, Rockstar Games wasn't even at E3 at all.

But now, not even a month after E3, sources are telling GameSpot that Grand Theft Auto V is "well under way" and is pretty much complete. The finishing touches are being put on the game, and things like mini-games are being added, claims the unnamed source.

The source added that a 2012 was "pretty likely", and that the game was vast in scale. Not surprising considering the size of past Grand Theft Auto games, or Rockstar-developed games in general.

This is all very unofficial, but as soon as anything more concrete breaks, you can be damn sure we'll be there to update you.

What is going to be different about GTA V? It will be basically the same as GTA 4...and 3... and San Andreas... and Vice City... and Saints Row 1... and 2... and 3...

damn MrrClean obviously you dont like GTA-type games so dont bother commenting on this. It's not lame to us who enjoy the GTA games. And lets not forget, Saints Row would not exist had it not been for GTA. I want GTA 5 to have the realism of IV, but with the character building you had in San Andreas. GTA haters can be stupid all they want, I'll be laughin at them once again soon as this monster comes out.:)

I love GTA games. I have owned most of em, plus both Saints Rows, plus a slew of other open world type games. The reason I said lame is because its just the same thing over and over and over again. As I have mentioned on other posts, the rehashing of the same f*cking thing over and over again is, in my eyes, a huge weak point to gaming these days. There is nothing new, just the same thing with shinier graphics, more blood, more activies, a different-ableit-very similar story structure... And why laugh at the haters? I am voicing an opinion, I am not saying you shouldnt go piss away another $60 dollars on a game that is basically already here. I will wait till something original comes out before getting excited.

not every game has to be different, GTA has improved over the years. if you want every game to be different every time, you just might as well stop playing video games. you are reading far too much into it, and when you do, you stop having fun with those games. all these people saying sequels suck, or too much sequels are coming out are just blowing hot air. they forget the fact that video games are for entertainment. if the second game is EXACTLY the same as the first, then that would be understandable. But thats never happened, granted people can say that CoD is the same game every time. It has the same mechanics all the time, but as with many games there are always new tweaks to the familiar formula which, depending on the tweaks themselves either improves the game or breaks it. If GTA were to change, it wouldnt be GTA. GTA is the first sandbox game that people really took note of, and rightfully so as you could and can still do many things within the game.

I just hope the main character is someone who acknowledges or even enjoys the fact that s/he's a criminal. Niko whined all the time about killing people, they need to go back to people like CJ from San Andreas or Tommy from Vice City. They don't need to be full-on sociopath like The Boss in Saint's Row 2 but be more like Michael Corleone in The Godfather: Upstanding citizen, gets involved in the family business despite no one else wanting him to do it, and then taking over.

I also hope the area is the size of San Andreas or larger.

Niko was a nice guy in a sense to me...it felt kinda touchy when he wanted to change his ways and after. The credits when he says so this is the dream...he gains absolute power but can't find happiness...

I had a blast with GTA4, but there are a couple of things I hope they address: 1. Having to keep your annoying friends happy. 2. Honestly, I've never found the minigames in any GTA to be either well done or fun. 3. A main character who doesn't look homeless (even in a suit!) - seriously Niko, shave the neck beard! 4. A story that can't decide if it's trying to be irreverently funny or actually tell a serious morality tale.

My favorite GTA was always Vice City. Best setting (80s), best voice actor (Ray Liotta), best mission structure (buying up the town), best music (again, 80s), best story (not too serious). I liked San Andreas, but the need to feed and work out the character got super annoying.

it means nothing because people say it all the time, but this is the right time that it should be used. gta4 was no different to the old games, it was smaller than san andreas and a lot more awkward to control. basically, it was just gta3 with good graphics. how that makes the game deserve an average review score of 98% is way beyond me
