Halo 4 Composer Revealed To Be Neil Davidge

Posted on Wednesday, April 11 @ 09:16:13 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

343 Industries has just announced the composer of Halo 4 and... drumroll please... it's the award-winning musician Neil Davidge. Not ringing any bells? Well, he is the co-writer and producer behind the last few albums from Massive Attack. Still nothing? Well maybe you've heard of a film called Clash of the Titans? He's responsible for some of the movie's composition work.

Davidge has since expressed his excitement in working on the music of Halo 4, making it clear that he is incredibly dedicated to composing a score that lives up to the Halo name. As such, he's carefully selected a 16-person male tenor/bass choir in addition to 10 female Bulgarian vocalists. A massive, 50-piece orchestra has been brought on as well.

The composer shared a few words assuring gamers that delivering an emotional experience through the music will be a primary goal in 343 Industries' upcoming sci-fi epic. "Music has always been at the heart of what makes Halo so captivating and iconic. With Halo 4, we want to build upon the franchise’s amazing legacy and create a score that captures the awe and wonder of the Halo universe, and reinforces the deeper and more emotionally impactful journey Master Chief will embark on."

Suffice it to say, Davidge has one heck of a challenge ahead of him. Let's just hope he can deliver on his promise, because in a post Mass Effect 3 world there's no telling what angry fans will do. I can see it now... online petitions circulate the web as disgruntled fans demand that 343i change the soundtrack.

We'll see if he lives up to Marty O'Donnell's compositions...heck, I'll consider it a success if its at least as good as Jingle Bells Brawl in Serious Sam TFE (TSE)...
