Halo 4 Sees Massive Launch, Outperforms All Prior Entries

Posted on Monday, November 12 @ 15:44:14 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Halo 4 saw quite the impressive opening day last week, raking in a whopping $220 million in the first 24 hours. According to the Big M, these numbers outpace the launches of all prior entries, with the game currently on track to hit $300 million in its first week.

The company also noted that this has been the “the biggest entertainment launch of the year to date,” outperforming not only The Avengers, but also the largest film debut of all time, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Though, it is worth mentioning that there's a huge difference between movie ticket prices and game prices, especially when there's a limited edition Xbox 360 thrown into the mix—so bear that in mind.

Now that you've had nearly a full week to play Halo 4, let us know what you think of 343i's first effort in the comments below.

I'm loving it! It looks great and i really enjoyed the story. The only thing that's not really doing it for me is the music, its good but it just doesn't feel as epic as Halo 3 or Reach. Can't wait to start jamming the multiplayer as soon as i have live up and running.

Yeah, the average consumer isn't aware of what studios make what. I am aware and personally don't care one way or the other. All that matters is whether the game is good or not.

    Everything is awesome.
Love all of it and looking forward to the new spartan ops missons!
I can honestly say that the game has no negatives, for me anyway. I think its the best so far.

I think Assassin's Creed III might have outsold Halo 4 during its first week.

I'm pleased with Halo 4. The story was good. I didn't buy the season pass until after I played the multiplayer. I do miss firefight mode though.

Incredible. They kept the important aspects of Halo, whilst adding new things and keeping it fresh at the same time.
