Halo 4: Spartan Ops Returns, Episode 7 Trailer Inside

Posted on Friday, January 25 @ 11:10:18 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

The seventh episode of Halo 4's Spartan Ops cooperative campaign hits Xbox Live next week, and we've got a fifty-second teaser that will have you eager to give it a go when Monday rolls around.

The trailer comes courtesy of Halo Waypoint, and along with it a description that reads: “As Lasky confronts Halsey for her actions, the Infinity is invaded by Promethean Knights and Sangheili terrorist Jul ‘Mdama gets closer to unlocking the secrets of the Librarian.”

I'm sure you'd agree that the trailer is incredibly intense. I just hope the gameplay reflects that, as a number of the Spartan Ops missions that have released post-launch have been a bit underwhelming.

Look for "Invasion" when it arrives on the 28th.

    Sounds promising.
I enjoyed them, but they got super repetitive.

I thought they were pretty misleading. I expected actual missions, I got Firefight but with someone yelling at you.

They definitely had their flaws, I won't argue that. I haven't looked at it like you do though, I was expecting them to be more like CoD's Spec Ops mode, so Spartan ops turning out like this wasn't really a surprise. My only real gripes are the inability to play them via system link. The other being the constant recycling of the maps in the first 5 episodes. I think its a great concept, but a kinda half as*ed execution.

This is your first view of what an Halo MMO might be like.

Misleading CG sequences, and recycled areas, and repetitive gameplay.

Well, Halo has a long history of recycled areas, starting from the first game making you backtrack through about half of it.

No. That was a level. When the story calls for that "setting", that's when it makes sense. I don't wanna go from a outdoor environment, walk into a door and suddenly appear in a space ship. They're just being lazy here. There's a different "story" but they're dropping you into the (sometimes) exact same areas from the campaign. Reusing areas and backtracking are two different things.
