Insomniac Announces Outernauts For Facebook

Posted on Wednesday, May 9 @ 08:29:25 Eastern by Keri_Honea

Every time I hear of a major console developer announcing a new game for social media—especially Facebook—I die a little inside. Thanks to Insomniac, developer of the Ratchet & Clank series and Resistance, I died a little today with their announcement of Outernauts for Facebook.

The Outernauts are an elite force of the United Earth that must capture and train alien beasts to fight against space pirates, evil corporations, and "Ancients."

"We see a huge opportunity to reach an entirely different audience of gamers through Facebook. As we have demonstrated for nearly 20 years in the console games space, we're confident we can help evolve the definition of a game experience on Facebook," said Ted Price, founder and president of Insomniac. "With Outernauts, we are delivering a deep story with real RPG strategy, coupled with Insomniac's signature sense of humor."

And that couldn't come to the PSN store for the Vita? Ugh, this makes me so sad. On the other hand, it sounds like they're making a game out of pieces from other popular franchises to slap into Facebook just to try to snatch a larger, casual audience.

Yeah, I have no opinion on this, whatsoever.

Outernauts is in a closed beta for now and will release to the public this summer.
