Is This The Countdown to a New Soul Calibur?

Posted on Wednesday, April 27 @ 11:07:02 Eastern by Blake_Morse

The other day we ran an article talking about how Game Director Daishi Odashima may have spilled the beans on the next Soul Calibur game being announced next month on his twitter. And now, less than 24 hours after we posted that story we find that Namco Bandai has put up a page on their Japanese website with a mysterious book that has a countdown clock that goes down as the pages turn.

The date and time it's counting down to are Wednesday, May 11th, 2011 9:59AM PST. Could this possibly be the actual announcement of Soul Calibur V or perhaps even a new IP from Namco Bandai? I guess we'll have to wait until May 11th to know for sure.

While this could be nothing more than an odd coincidence of timing, my Viking-sense tells me that these two things are more than likely related.

I dunno, man, I'm a big fan of the Soul Calibur games, I have been since it was Soul Blade way back on PS1. But I'll be honest... SC4 kinda blew big ol' nuts. It was slow as sh*t, all the wicked back and forth, side to side parying that you could do before, the speed and the intensity of the battles just wasn't there, it feels like giant weights are hanging off the feet of all the characters. And Darth Vader f*cking sucked, seriously, for all the hype there was around him being in the game I really hope the mange to get back to the awesomeness that was their previous efforts.

I don't know, I really liked SC4. I just played SC on my dreamcast and I don't notice a huge difference in speed or anything. I do agree that Darth Vader sucked and the whole star wars things seemed like a gimmick and felt out of place in the game.

One thing I really enjoyed was the custom fighters you can make. I really hope they expand on that in the next one. My Sigfried style fighter that looks like Auron is still my favorite! (nerdgasm)
