Join the Resistance... 3 Multiplayer Beta in August

Resistance: Fall of Man? Resistance 2? Resistance 3? Oh, OK, good. I'm not all that familiar with the whole... 1950s... but aliens are invading... so here's a bunch of futuristic guns. Again, I've only had a PS3 for like six months.

Regardless, I'll definitely be checking out Sony's Resistance 3 Beta. If you've got a copy of SOCOM 4, you'll be able to play in the beta starting August 4th. If you're in the United States and you've got a subscription to PlayStation Plus, you'll be able to join the beta on August 23rd. Europeans with PlayStation Plus will get slightly earlier access on August 10th. If you're not down with the free games and stuff Sony offers to Plus subscribers, you can keep your eyes open for opportunities to play in the beta.

Once you've download the multiplayer trial... I mean, essential testing phase, you can play either Team Deathmatch or Chain Reaction gameplay modes. Each will be available across two multiplayer maps, Seaside and Trainyard, with players able to level up to 20, upgrade weapons, and unlock character skins.

Anyone else looking to squash some aliens... shoot some humans... wait, shoot some aliens, right? What's this game about again?

    It actually has a really great story. There's even a huge chunk of backstory that doesn't get much action...and it's really a shame. I fear the Cloven won't play a huge role in R3.

    OK, I guess I should probably check it out.... Would you say the story is better than.... your average Call of Duty?

    Coming from someone who enjoys the movie-like drama/action of Call of Duty stories, Resistance is more like something you'd read in a book. Then said book gets a movie and video game adaption. I suggest getting the Dual Pack or checking out the Resistance Wiki. So yeah, Resistance has a better story, but I fear R3 will have a cookie cutter ending.

    I completely forgot about the code that came with Socom 4. Gonna have to play a few rounds and get ready for the beta, hopefully it's as fun as I think it'll be

    I just realized I had a developer code copy of SOCOM 4, so I'm waiting for the PS+ beta as well.
