Just Announced: A New SNES Game!?!

Posted on Wednesday, February 29 @ 08:20:24 Eastern by

Super Fighter Team, a tiny dev team in Cali, are releasing the first game on the SNES since 1998. The game, called Nightmare Busters, is said to be a "masterful run and gun" game and will release in a limited, 600-copy run, priced at a stiff $68 big ones due to high production costs.

Yeah, because nobody manufactures SNES games anymore, duh!

If you're looking to get all nostalgiac with your SNES, but with a new game, you can pre-order it at their official site. But you'll have to wait a while to get it, it's not coming out until 2013.

That takes a lot of balls to be making a game for a beyond outdated system. Now let's see someone make something for the NES. I'm also sure someone will rip the game's ROM and post it online for all to play.

How many people still have functioning SNES? I can understand maybe programming and releasing a ROM, but to return to such outdated technology is just odd. Appreciate the nostalgia, but Wildmario is right, as much as they put into it, it'll likely be widely available within a few months of release due to emulation.

A lot of people do. There are alot of combo systems that have been manufactured that can play SNES/NES/Genesis games and are fairly cheap. They are pretty popular too. Also, I bet there is at least 600 people (out of how many gamers?) who'd buy the game just cuz it's a "rare collectors item" regardless of it being ripped and rommed.

Totally agree with drathbone. I'm also sure it will be emulated and I wouldn't be surprised if at some point it is offered on one of Nintendo's e-services. Question though, will it actually be "Licensed by Nintendo"? We need some screenshots GR.

I don't think I've ever heard talk of an nes or an snes that DOESN'T work, actually.

Well, you all certainly shut me up, now didn't you? I stand corrected. But for the record, most of the NES and SNES I have ran across over the past decade have been broken, or in need of an hour long blowjob to work.

If you check out their website the other games they have made look fantastic. I'd buy the RPG's in a heartbeat if they were still available.

    ...not new.

New games come out of old consoles all the time. Get on the scene.
