Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix Confirmed For Western Release

In the past, I've made it quite well known that I'm not a big fan of HD collections. If I've already played the game to death some 5+ years ago, why should I feel compelled to revisit it when there are so many incredible new titles I still don't even have time for? However, there is always one exception to the rule, and in my case, that is Kingdom Hearts.

Much to my delight (and hopefully yours as well), Square Enix has just announced that Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix will be coming to North America this fall, exclusively for the PlayStation 3. We've known the game was coming to Japan for quite some time, and assumed that it would be coming to the West eventually, it's just nice to get some actual confirmation.

This high definition compilation includes the original Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, and the cutscenes of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. The entire package has received a number of enhancements, both on the visual and gameplay end.

    Even though this HD collection is so half-assed with what it contains, I'm going to be picking it up too. I know, I'm part of the problem.

    While it sure would be nice to have KH2 and Birth By Sleep, I am impressed with the visual upgrade. Not too shabby.

    The only game featured in the Remix that I've played through is KH, so I'll definitely pick it up. Unless it doesn't hit until after the next console generation. In which case, I think I'll just forget that Square exists completely. Or maybe they've got an Ace up their sleeve, and they're releasing an FFVII HD update as a PS4 exclusive. I'd crap my pants, and probably wouldn't change before I went to get the game and new console.

    I wants it, but I hope they change how to move the camera in the original Kingdom Hearts. If memory serves it was L1 / R1, and the right analog stick didn't do anything. I never ended up buying Chain of Memories, but I have played through it and wanted to add it to my collection, so this would do nicely.

    I hope KH1 will be available standalone on PSN. From what I've read Chain of Memories sounds pretty pointless.

    I still think KH2 should have been in this, but instead they are probably gonna split it up for another collection with BBS and KH2. That being said, since its seems KH1 is the final mix version, i will be buying it for that.

    Loved the first game, played the hell out of it. Like you said. For whatever reason I felt the depth of the storyline in KH2 was just getting far too complex for me to enjoy, trying too hard maybe? I know that's probably not a popular opinion. It's not that I don't enjoy a good complex JRPG-style storyline, I just felt the pacing took a hard turn from the original and I already had plenty of that from the dozens of other JRPGs I played, just wanted more Disney encounters with FF story-lite.

    Looking forward to hearing more about KH3 someday, though. And hopefully another amazing Utada Hikaru track to go along with it. :D

    Oh yeah, in case anyone cares this does have trophy support. Between that and the HD upgrade it's definitely worth playing through again for me - been a very long time. I promise i'll get better at this commenting thing eventually. :)
