E3: PC or rather about the lack of it

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

Kojima Remarks on Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, PS Vita

Posted on Friday, July 15 @ 16:18:04 Eastern by

After announcing that the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be coming to PS3 this November, while he hides in his underground bunker to finish Rising, Kojima brought forth new details in an interview on Playstation's blog. First, he described how Peace Walker will be brought from the PSP to an HD standup console:

The PSP obviously has fewer buttons than the PS3 controller, and it had some limitations when it comes to control. Using the DualShock 3, movement of many things improved…as did, of course, [the addition of] rumble support.

On the PSP, it was also hard to tell some textures apart. Now, rendered in HD, they are much easier to see. The in-game text is also easier to read.

At the Konami pre-E3 press conference, Kojima revealed his "transfarring" system where players can take a Peace Walker save file from one console to another as well as from PS Vita to Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, and reveals what he hopes of its future:

Peace Walker is the first step. It is a PSP game in HD that lets one go back and forth between one PSP and a PSP. The next step is to take PS2-quality games, such as Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3, to HD and then to take them to Vita transfarring.

My next step is games that will come out for the PS3 from now on, so I can take advantage of this technology with the Vita with content that is exactly the same. I hope that cloud service is available now, and it would be ideal for me if transfarring were to serve as a bridge between the two services.

Kojima also believes in the PS Vita but he doesn't want to "force users" to use the multitouch pad on the back of the conosle. Though he wants to create a new Snatcher game, he does "not have the time or the means to do so", but "would love it" if another developer were to take it on.

I'm glad somebody doesn't want to force us to use controls we don't want to use.

"...take them to Vita transfarring." before E3 nobody would have understood this.

This is pretty cool news, but now I would really like to see a HD remake of the original Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2 and Metal Gear Solid.
