Madden 12 Will Ship Regardless of Lockout

Posted on Wednesday, April 13 @ 00:33:46 Eastern by Blake_Morse

As multi-millionaire athletes argue with their multi-millionaire team owners about how hard they have it, us regular working schmucks are left scratching our heads wondering what the hell we're going to do with our Sundays come football season. But even if we can't watch our respective favorite teams (Raiders!) duke it out gridiron style, at least we'll be able to play some virtual football. During a press conference President of EA Sports, Peter Moore made the following statement:

"Madden 12 will be shipping on August the 30th 2011, regardless of what happens with the league itself."

Later on in the day I got a chance to sit down with the man in charge of all things football at EA, Cam Weber and got him to confirm the statement:

"It was never a question of whether or not we would ship the game... This is a Madden year like any other year for us. We know the hardcore fans are going to be back. This year more than any year (in a year where there's [potentially] no NFL) we need to make sure we're designing the game so that those fans are going to be satisfied."

So even if we don't get to see the real spoiled brats throw down in real life, at least we'll get their virtual counterparts. The real athletes will probably be sitting in their mansions doing the same thing too.

The Raiders? Seriously? Must have been a depressing decade for you, my friend.

I would gladly take a trip to the Super Bowl like the raiders had in the '02 season over all the good but not great teams my favorite team, the Dolphins, have put together the past two decades.
