Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Mario Enters The Realm Of DLC This August

Posted on Thursday, June 21 @ 21:48:41 Eastern by

Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime spoke directly to gamers today and revealed that New Super Mario Bros 2, due on the Nintendo 3DS this August, will be supported post-release by paid downloadable content.

....

Has that sunk in yet? No?

....

I feel like just the other day I was saying to myself "Thank God Nintendo doesn't pull this shit too or I'd probably have to kill myself." Reggie must have been warned of my impending suicide. He promised via tonight's Nintendo Direct conference that this DLC would not affect the development of the original release. Reggie stated that new "coin rush" stages would be made available after the initial offering but there were no details on how or when this DLC would be released.

So... yeah. Comments this way VVVVVV.

I find it rather appropriate that the game where the point is to collect as much money as possible is the first game that Nintendo announces DLC to collect as much money as possible.

Actually, it's more funny that people were pissed at Nintendo previously for not doing DLC. Now that they are doing paid DLC, I can't wait to see the same people claim Nintendo is greedy.

I thought people were pissed that they weren't patching games with exploits and bugs in them like MK7? I've never heard people complaining that Nintendo wasn't doing DLC.

It was back when the Wii was hot. People wanted Brawl to have extra characters and levels, same for Mario kart, Metroid, and Zelda. Patches were just one of the many complaints.
