Grid 2 surprised me. I was going through the motions, getting used to the cars and their handling, when suddenly something happened. I started having fun.

Undead Lab's zombie-infested action title has finally hit XBLA. Is it worth a few of your precious Microsoft Points, or should you whack it over the head with a two-by-four and continue on your merry way?

E3: PC or rather about the lack of it

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

Mario Jumps Atop JP Sales Charts

Posted on Wednesday, November 9 @ 18:10:36 Eastern by Heath_Hindman

Media Create's weekly sales figures are in, and the 3DS comes out on top in both software and hardware, which has thus far been a rarity for the machine. The power of Mario compels you. Uncharted 3 and Battlefield 3 also put up excellent showings, as the latter actually managed to stick an Xbox 360 title in the top 10. That's pretty amazing considering how little the system has sold in the Far East.
1. (3DS) Super Mario 3D Land
2. (PS3) Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
3. (PS3) Battlefield 3
4. (PSP) Final Fantasy Type-0
5. (WII) Kirby's Return to Dream Land
6. (PSP) World Soccer Winning Eleven 2012
7. (3DS) Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime 3
8. (360) Battlefield 3
9. (WII) Just Dance Wii
10. (WII) Go Vacation
11. (WII) World Soccer Winning Eleven 2012
12. (WII) Wii Sports Resort with Remote Plus
13. (PS3) The Idolmaster 2
14. (PS3) World Soccer Winning Eleven 2012
15. (PS2) World Soccer Winning Eleven 2012
16. (PSP) AKB1/48: If I loved an Idol in Guam...
17. (WII) Rhythm Heaven: Fever
18. (PS3) Macross F: Sayonara no Tsubasa - Hybrid Pack
19. (PSP) Naruto Shippuden: Narutimate Impact
20. (3DS) Nicola Kanshuu: Model Oshare Audition 2

Considering the  install base of the 3DS at this point, its initial report of 343 thousand units sold represents an extremely good debut for Mario 3D Land.  That's more than Mario 64, Mario Sunshine, and both Mario Galaxy games saw in their respective launch weeks.

Mario's new game didn't just sell a lot of software, the little jumping plumber was also clearly a factor in selling some hardware, as shown by these system sales:

3DS – 145,271
PSP – 27,952
PS3 – 26,966
Wii – 11,725
DS – 3,131
Xbox 360 – 1,699
PS2 – 1,457

Any time a system gets more than, say, 45k in Japan, it can be said that it had a very big week. If it's been out for a few years, then make that 30k.  Nintendo's 3DS walked in and pretty much backhand slapped everyone this week.

"Mario's new game didn't get sell". Think you meant 'just' instead of 'get' or something.

I thought we established this last week that the US and Japan are pretty well segregated when it comes to video games. Don't understand why we keep getting updates on Japanese video game sales. It would actually make more sense to post UK video game sales figures since they, you know, play the same games that we do and their sales would therefore effect the future of the games we care about.  Don't they spend more per capita on video games than anyone as well?  While the fact that "AKB1/48: If I loved an Idol in Guam..." & "Bukkake Island 12" made the top 20 in Japan is interesting, it really doesn't have any bearing on the games I or anyone else care about. Just saying, not a rant.

Well, I see two or three Japanese games that won't come over to America and 17 others that will or have been released here. Plus, why do we care about sales data in general? It has doesn't affect regular consumers like us that much. Just sayin'.

I find it interesting what sells in Japan. I also find it very interesting that BF3 a western made military shooter has two spots in the top twenty.
