Mass Effect 3 Facial Import Bug Has Been Fixed

Posted on Monday, April 9 @ 09:57:04 Eastern by Keri_Honea

If I had to pick one thing that upset me about Mass Effect 3, it would be the fact that my Shepard could be imported into the game. I did my best to tweak her to look how I remembered, but the whole time I played, all I could think was she didn't look right. Not a great way to kick off the game.

But huzzah, soon that issue will not be an issue! BioWare announced today that they have indeed fixed that import problem, and the patch will release on PC today and on consoles tomorrow.

The patch corrects the issues that occurred from importing a Shepard from Mass Effect 2 who was imported from the first Mass Effect. The patch also fixes a few game-crashing bugs and connectivity problems.

I'm actually shocked that this bug wasn't detected in any of the quality testing. Did no one try to import a Shepard from ME2 that was imported from the first game? Really? It just seems so odd that this was never tested in BioWare labs. Better late than never, I guess. I'm glad I had already planned to replay ME2 with my ME1 Shepard (to make some different decisions) and then import that Shepard once more for ME3. Maybe now my Shepard will look like my Shepard.

It's not really been fixed, haven't checked my Xbox today yet, but as of midnight last night the patch still wasn't live, and the people I do know who have the patch (PC users) are saying their Shepards still don't look right. The whole thing is a farce. If your biggest selling point for your game series is continuity you'd think that this would be a top priority to get right from day one.
