Mass Effect Extended Cut DLC Releases Tuesday

Posted on Friday, June 22 @ 10:18:08 Eastern by Keri_Honea

The wait is over, Mass Effect fans. BioWare announced today that the Extended Cut for Mass Effect 3 will release on June 26th for free for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC. It will release in Europe on July 4th.

In order to experience the Extended Cut, you must load a save from before the attack on the Cerberus base. I believe that means I will have to start my game over, because I really didn't keep a lot of save points. Ah well, I guess there are worse things in life.

Want to learn more? Enjoy this video with Community Manager Jessica Merizan, Executive Produce Casey Hudson, and Lead Writer Mac Walters.

Fans will still complain, it won't matter. It won't even fix anything, the only way the rage will stop is if every single player gets a personalized explosion of rainbows, and lollipops, a personal harem, and is shown triumphantly standing on top of a dead reaper in a 1980s Sci-Fi action pose, maybe even with a cape fluttering dramatically in the wind.

My personalized ending: After confronting the Illusive Man and activating the crucible, nothing happens. Then a hologram of Harbinger appears, reveals that the crucible plans were all a trap laid by the Reapers, and laughs at Shepard and humanity for putting all their resources and hope into some ridiculous superweapon plans that they didn't even understand. And then Shepard bleeds to death as he watches the Earth and combined fleets get destroyed. That ending makes the most sense to me.

Shirt slightly ripped open, love interest wrapped around your leg as you stand triumphantly...that too would have been epic. That should be the ending if you played casual settings.

I see no reason to complain about this...

Then again, everyone is basically wrong in this situation so who am I to judge the foolishness of fans.

I personally just want them to up the ante in the "romance" scenes and quit being catering *****es about it. Jesus Bioware you guys used to have a pair and now they've been replaced with Monkey that smells of ****

Let's just stop pretending the conclusion to the ME trilogy was good. Whether or not you belive the ending should be changed, at least admit BioWare dropped the ball. The ending was abrupt, illogical and confusing. The final sequence consists of a deus ex machina ending, complete with the introduction of a new antagonist and conflict. Which, with some added clarity, could be passable. Again, this is a game, not a David Lynch movie, there is not room for that type of speculative, ambiguous ending here. I personally believe the current ending would be fine with some clarity. I am not supporting the strawman, everyone walks off the Normandy and hugs, life affirming ending. But my Shepard took a breath, so unless she survived the exploding citadel and fall back to earth, any rational person has to think there is more going on here. Indoctrination theory anyone??......
