Mass Effect Movie Script Complete, Based On First Game

Posted on Tuesday, July 24 @ 17:23:34 Eastern by Jonathan_Leack

Few games are good enough to win awards, but even fewer games do well enough to make it to the big screen. Mass Effect is one of those few games that comes along and offers a gripping story that the film industry can't keep its hands off of. Similar upcoming movies include World of Warcraft and Uncharted, but Mass Effect is well on its way to being the first out of the gate.

According to Deadline, Mark Protosevich has completed the script for the Mass Effect movie and Legendary Pictures will be producing the film. You might be familiar with Protosevich from films such as Poseidon, Thor, and I Am Legend, all of which are action-rich and did well in the box office.

An FAQ has been posted on the Legendary site which reveals a lot about the movie, including the fact that it will be based within the timeline of the original Mass Effect game. Also, casting isn't set in stone so fan favorites such as Seth Green have a shot at appearing in the film, as is your favorite Victoria's Secret model to portray Tali. Lastly, in regard to the player choice found throughout the trilogy, the narrative will be one dimensional, so don't go into the theater thinking you can choose what happens.

Stay tuned for an official cast list and more details on when filming will begin.

That was real? I had heard about it but didn't know it actually existed. It was exactly what popped in my head when I heard about the ME movie. I wonder which direction they'll go.

I'd really prefer realistic CGI, I just can't bare to watch a movie based on a game because the actors don't bear any resemblance

    Maybe that's just me.

Why why why do they have to **** with my games??! My Dungeon Seige has been tarnished forever by Uwe Boll, don't let whoever is going to direct this ruin my Mass Effect.

I don't know about having a mass effect movie. If it has Shepard I don't think it's going to bode well, but if it is about other events on the side then I'm all for it. Anything to explain the mythos of the universe is always welcomed.

Can't wait for the scene where they drive around aimlessly in the Mako trying to find some Asari Writings, Turian insignia or random minerals. This would be so epic, even better than Star Trek: the Motion Picture!
