Maxis Reveals Which Free Games Will Make You Forget About Crappy DRM

Posted on Monday, March 18 @ 13:46:22 Eastern by

Free stuff? Did someone say free stuff? The irrational consumer wins again! That's right suckers! You wish you paid $60 for a broken mess and got a game that'll probably only cost $20 when... Alright, this is a sham. I'm only pretending NOT to feel hurt about this whole SimCity thing.

Knowing full well their region neighbors were pissed, Maxis and EA decided to offer a free game download from Origin. With launch woes well behind the game and anyone playing it, this isn't for us. It's for you, the PC gaming elite. Enjoy your free game, no one.

Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition)
Bejeweled 3
Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition)
Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition)
Medal of Honor Warfighter (Standard Edition)
Need For Speed: Most Wanted (Standard Edition)
Plants vs. Zombies
SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition

I'm going with SimCity. Just for the irony, OK? It's all I have left! Wait... No, that's all cynicism now. For more details on obtaining your free EA game license, head over to the SimCity blog and lay down some forgiveness zones next to the residential.

I think it is the made up language that Sims speak in the games.

Ding ding! Tell him what's he's won, Jonny!

This Simlish can be translated into something if you sing it, but a Google search is probably easier.

I hate any action that further enables Origin to exist, including the download of free games.

I hear that. To me, this is adding insult to injury. I didn't buy the game because of Origin, and now people that did buy it are only being supplied with a free game through Origin. No. Thanks.

This this just for people who bought SimCity or for everyone? Because if it is...I have played all those games (or own them) except Warfighter. I know it's not very good, but if it's free...what the hell!

Lol, no. This is only if you register a copy of SimCity. Personally, I think this is a good deal, especially including Dead Space 3, which I think is still 60 bucks. Of course, I already own all those games that I'm interested in, but still.

EA is really getting into the whole buying forgiveness thing. In fact, the best thing I got out of Dragon Age 2 was a free copy of the PC version of Mass Effect 2.

And. I haven't had problems since the first week of launch really. And I just decided on launch night that I wouldn't play for a week. Went back, happy with it.

BF3 is kinda lame. I dont know of anyone who isnt playing in the new expansion, So to EA its them getting more money.

Id guess out of all of those, Need for speed most wanted would be the best value to me.

Well tell EA their plan didn't work, cause even if I get 10 free games ill still think DRM is a shitty idea.

Did you buy SimCity? I think a lot of gamers will wait-and-see next time an EA game is coming out.

Nah. Like one of those retired comic heroes, I watched from afar as this evil(DRM laced games) was released upon the masses... Powerless to help.

If they gave me 10 games for free and they were only play online I'd be a happy camper. Always Online isn't a horrible thing as people make it out to be but the recent experiments into it Ie. D3 and recently Simcity most likely left a sour people in their mouths. *Insert Blah blah your choice your money blah blah blah *

Seriously people need to really calm down and know we aren't in 1990 anymore these stupid things will be there.

It's one thing to realize that the times are changing, but another to be ignorant to your fan base. One reason why people were really pissed about the DRM is because SimCity is primarily a single player experience. There should be no need to constantly have to be connected if I'm playing by myself.

Wow, can't even splurge on providing deluxe editions for horrible execution? Do they want to compound their PR problems more than they already have?

EA really outdone themselves by adding Bejeweled 3.
