LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Goes Offline This Summer

Posted on Tuesday, February 14 @ 13:51:46 Eastern by

Sad news for fans of Metal Gear Solid 4. A recent annoucement by Konami's Japanese website, as translated by Kotaku, indicates that Metal Gear Online, the game's multiplayer component, will be gradually disabled this coming summer.

The MGO shop will close on March 21, creating new characters will be halted in April, and then the entire mode will be deactivated by June 21.

I'm not particularly sure why this mode's death needs to be so slow and agonizing, but it will have to come eventually, as it does for all multiplayer games.

I could never get into Metal Gear online. I tried for weeks and it didn't appeal to me.

awww man this is a sad day indeed. I knew this day would come, I'm almost surprised it made it this long. I think I could stand to put down MW3 etc. and see this game out properly. GR Play Date?!?!?!?!

To be honest, MGO was never the selling point of the MG series or MGS4. At least for me. It just came off as a clunky 3PS.

I'll give you that. But it felt like a much more tactical online multiplayer. Sometimes I had a lot more fun sneaking up and choking people out than I ever did dodging newb tubes and remote control C4 cars...
