Will this alternative-history FPS make players want to shout “Wolverines” or will they want to forget it ever existed (like the pathetic remake of Red Dawn)?

Microsoft Accepting Xbone Moniker, "It's A Clever Use Of The Name"

Posted on Friday, October 4 @ 05:48:00 PST by Alex_Osborn

Despite the fact that Xbox mouthpiece Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb has made it perfectly clear he isn't fond of the nickname, Microsoft has accepted the Xbone moniker. So does this mean the company will start putting it in its ads? Not a chance.

Speaking to GameSpot, Microsoft's Phil Spencer discussed the controversial nickname, telling the outlet, "At first, I guess the thing that bugged me the most is I didn't see it. I'd been looking at the name for Xbox One for months, and I wasn't clever enough to merge them and come up with Xbone.

"But, you know, I think it's going to stick. I think we can say we don't like it as much as we want, but it's a clever use of the name. Probably not the most flattering name, but I think it's going to be there."

With regards to whether or not the company plans to embrace the nickname, Spencer went to to add, "Embrace? I think we know it's there. I don't think you'll see us running ads that say Xbone… but, yeah, it's a clever use of the name."

What do you think of the Xbone moniker? Should Microsoft embrace it and put it in its ads? Let us know in the comments below.
