Microsoft Registers Xbox 8 Domains

Forget the Xbox 720, Durango, Loop or whatever other ridiculous names the next-gen Microsoft console has been called, because it looks like Xbox 8 may be what the company plans to go with. According to a report from Fusible, Microsoft has registered the following domains after winning two disputes that were filed back in May with the National Arbitration Forum: XboxPhone.com, XboxTablet.com, XboxLiveTV.com, XboxCompanion.com, Xbox8.us and Xbox8.org.

While this hardly confirms that Xbox 8 will be the name of the next Xbox, it would fit nicely alongside the Windows 8 branding the company has for its new operating system. Plus, if Sony decides to continue numbering their consoles, Xbox 8 sounds a whole lot newer and more advanced than PlayStation 4.

    While I agree it sounds more appealing than Xbox 720, it just seems a little weird considering it's not the "8th" version of the console or anything, like the Windows Phone OS is or even the latest version of Windows. Sure, it'll flow together better in branding, but I hope they have a better name than that in mind when it goes public.

    I think it could be Xbox 8 as in Xbox Infinity. But maybe I'm thinking too hard on this one.

    Yeah, I always thought the O's in "LOOP" was a horizontal 8. So, guess this is what Microsoft plans. Also, it's trending on Yahoo.

    Dont windows 9 will only be released 2 months after console release .... Xbox 8 name will have a nice long run
