Microsoft Slashes The Price Of Kinect

Posted on Wednesday, August 22 @ 14:20:00 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Xbox spokesman Major Nelson has just revealed that the Xbox 360's motion-centric peripheral will now be priced 40 bucks cheaper, than its original asking price, bringing the new retail tag to $109.99. If for whatever reason you have a hankering for some Dance Central and haven't picked up the device yet, you're patience has paid off... I guess.

Right now this only applies to the US, though unspecified price reductions in the rest of North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific are planned as well. Starting October 4th, those in Australia and New Zealand will see a permanent discount as well.

As of right now, there are no plans to cut the price in Japan or EMEA, though something tells me they probably don't care either way.

I've held off buying one for this long, I don't think a $40 price cut is an incentive. I wasted $20 on the Xbox Live Cam when that was phasing out, and never even used it. Almost two years and there's only a couple dozen Kinect games and only a few are any good? Talk about failure.

Still not enough for me to get one. There are still literally no games i would want to play on Kinect....well maybe Gunstringer, but that's it.

And i wasted 40 bucks on that vision cam when it came out, and it never really took off or did anything. I did use it as a webcam for my computer before i got a laptop with one built in.

The Kinect to me is like The Nintendo Wii, Playstation Move (obviously), all they're good for is partying. Something about it brings people to laughter when playing it with friends. And then, it brings tears when someone accidentally punches you, physically.

I still can't believe this thing is the fastest selling consumer electronic device out there. Everyone scrambled to buy one, now I see dozens of them sitting and collecting dust at GameStop. The sheep will always follow the shepard.

Unfortunately this is still overpriced by $109.99
