GAMING NEWSMicrosoft's Application For Killer Instinct Trademark DeniedPosted on Tuesday, December 4 @ 08:12:25 Eastern by Alex_Osborn
![]() Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that it had renewed the trademark for Rare's fighting franchise Killer Instinct. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the publisher has secured the rights after all, as the US Patent Office has denied the Big M's request. Apparently it can't be renewed because of fear of "confusion" with the same trademark for “entertainment services in the nature of a television series featuring drama.” Polygon believes that the culprit is likely a TV show called Killer Instinct, which received a mere 13 episodes back in 2005. Are you still holding out hope that we'll one day see a new installment in the franchise? Let us know by commenting below. [Via] More from the Game Revolution Network Comments

That reminds me of when Ferrari couldn't call their car F150 because apparently people would confuse it with the Ford pickup truck.
