Mike Capps Stepping Down From His Role As President At Epic Games

Posted on Wednesday, December 5 @ 12:59:20 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Mike Capps has announced that he will be stepping down from his position as the president of Epic Games in order to spend more time with his family.

As far as what Capps has planned for the future, he explained on the studio's community page:

If you haven’t heard, I have a baby boy on the way. I’m fortunate that with Epic’s success and generosity, I can be a stay at home dad for a while. My wife Julianne and I are very happy in Raleigh, and other than cleaning up baby barf, I don’t have much planned. I might do some teaching, spend more time on creative writing, and maybe get more active with a few charities.

Capps will retain a leadership role at Epic on the company's board, but feels absolutely confident that the rest of the team is fully capable of carrying the torch.

Is it just me, or is something fishy going on at Epic? First we had Rod Fergusson leave to go work at Irrational, then Cliff Bleszinski dropped off the map, and now Mike Capps? What is going on?!

    Mike who?
I genuinely thought Cliff Bleszinski was president of Epic.

Oh well... the more you know...

Epic will never work on Nintendo platforms. Epic is all about the latest and greatest technology and many developers under Epic have complained about Nintendo's constantly dated hardware. They would have to completely re-write their engines to work on Nintendo platforms. Plus, Nintendo is generally a pain to work with when it comes to third parties.
