Minecraft Coming Exclusively to the 360, Kinect Support Included

Posted on Monday, June 6 @ 10:36:02 Eastern by Sebastian_Moss

Console owners would be mad to try and pass up on the chance to have Minecraft, pretty much the fastest growing indie game on the PC, so it's no wonder that Microsoft was beaming when they announced the game exclusively for the 360.

Set for this winter, it will also feature Kinect support, so grind mining can be even more tiring.

^Ha. Two different worlds there, Hatman.

My question is, are people really going to play this rather than the PC version?

Yes I'm sure plenty of people will play it on a console, since on the PC it's a poorly coded Java mess that runs worse than STALKER on my computer.

What I want to know is whether it will be compatible with my existing minecraft account, or whether MS will make you pay for it again. Most likely the latter, in which case I hope no one buys it.

Lol, what exactly makes you think you would get ir for free? really? of course your gonna have to buy it again, its a different platform, this would be like complaining that sony is milking you because you have to buy a game you own on the pc again on the ps3 in order to play it.

The way Minecraft works is once you buy it, it is now tied to your account and if you log into any computer you can play it from there. You aren't purchasing the game, you are purchasing a premium account to play the game. Essentially, making you pay for the game itself rather than just extending premium accounts to be compatible with the 360 is silly.

Why wouldn't you just buy the indie game FortressCraft, it's like $5 and a direct clone as far as I can see. If you put them side by side I couldn't tell the difference.

Well as far as I can tell FortressCraft doesn't have the survival single/multi-player mode where you have to gather resources and stuff. In the future, yeah, but I wonder what the devs of FortressCraft think of this announcement.

Minecraft runs just fine on my computer. The only time I ever get slowdown is when I try to set of a few thousand blocks of dynamite at once. That sort of thing is only amusing for so long though, so it's not much of an issue. I don't really think it'll play that well with a controller and I can't honestly think of a way to incorporate Kinect in any meaningful way.
