Minecraft Reaches Profitability Within First Hour of XBLA Launch

Posted on Thursday, May 10 @ 11:40:10 PST by Alex_Osborn

As if dominating PCs around the globe wasn't enough, Markus "Notch" Persson has gone on to take the Xbox 360 by storm, as his little known title Minecraft has already reached profitability on Microsoft's console. While I doubt anyone was suspecting the game would fail, I'm a bit surprised to see how well it is selling right off the bat, especially in lieu of the fact that the 360 version is a far inferior to its PC counterpart. Then again, the Xbox Live platform is alive and thriving like never before, so it looks like Notch's timing couldn't have been better.
