Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Miyamoto On Project Cafe: "No Smoke Without Fire"

Posted on Thursday, April 21 @ 15:38:48 Eastern by

With all this talk about Nintendo's "Project Cafe" there's bound to be some truth to it. Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of such long-standing Nintendo franchises like Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong, agrees.

In a recent interview in Paris, the Nintendo legend was asked about the circulating rumors of a new Nintendo console, to which he replied:

I admit that there is no smoke without fire. You know Nintendo, like all other manufacturers, our job is to design new machines.

He added:

...we do not know exactly where we are going and when do we get out our next console, we do not disclose publicly.

Despite all but confirming the existence of a new console, Miyamoto ended his comments with "But we should not believe everything we read...", hinting that some of the details on the new console may not be accurate.

Nintendo, which single-handedly sparked the motion-controller craze with the Nintendo Wii, is said to be redefining what we know to be traditional controllers yet again with their latest console. Dubbed "Project Cafe", the controllers are believed to have a built-in touchscreen that can stream content from the console to within your hands. Some supposed mock-up images of the controller were unearthed earlier today.
