Modern Warfare 3 Will Use Steamworks and Support Dedicated Servers

Posted on Monday, August 29 @ 12:58:02 Eastern by

Through a press release by Valve, the PC version for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be supporting the full extent of Steamworks and be available via Steam. As many already know, Electronic Arts has pulled its catalog from Steam in support of their own downloadable service Origin, and that includes the upcoming release of Battlefield 3. You can also pre-order Modern Warfare 3 on Steam, set to release on November 8.

Unlike its predecessor, Modern Warfare 3 will support dedicated servers, as reported earlier from Gamescom. Here, dedicated servers don't need to be rented by one specific company, and players will be allowed to foster online communities with unique maps and rules. Hopefully, this doesn't spawn too many cheaters in real tournaments on Call of Duty Elite.

Shame gameplay still sucks. I'd rather buy rage out of all 3 of them. Doom/quake devs > CoD devs and it will be like that FOREVER

Agreed, i'm kinda disappointed that iD isn't including deathmatch in rage but hopefully they do something amazing for Doom4.
