LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

More Grand Theft Auto V Screens Take Flight

Posted on Friday, August 24 @ 22:00:00 Eastern by

The screens release in the lead up to Grand Theft Auto V are making the wait completely unbearable. Three times this week, Rockstar Games has seen fit to reveal new screenshots for the open-world opus and the latest batch of four are the best yet.

We know that Los Santos will feature a sprawling map, but the devil is in the detail. Take the screenshot of the bi-plane above for example. Look at the water, stone, and grass. I can't wait to buzz the countryside. If you're looking to take to the urban, skyscraper nest down town, you might want to steal the keys to a helicopter instead.

Nighttime patrols, lazer-equipped rifles, high-speed chases, and the rumble of a big-rig are all on display here. These four screenshots are just making the wait sooooooo hard!

Maybe Rockstar Games will have a different story than doing drug missions and robbing vehicles for your pals. I don't expect that to change though. The stories are different, but the missions are the same. I like GTA IV's story. A person betrayed you and your soldiers (pretty sure Niko was in some Army) and you wanted to know why. So, you travel to America and look for this person. I love it. Then they added twists. Yes, maybe Rockstar will gain money, because players do love the exploring the game. That's one of main reasons GTA IV did so well. It was on the current gens' consoles and they added a bunch of scenery from New York. I can't wait for GTA: V and see what they do to the L.A. setting.

I can see what you mean and I'm not trying to say there's anything wrong with the narrative itself at all, although it did start to bore me a little towards the end. I just want them to try a different approach with how the story plays out, GTA3 was groundbreaking at the time of release for everything it did, even the way missions were completed was great. But I just find myself getting tired of no forward movement from the company. People bag developers like Square Enix for straying from their roots, but they're being ambitious and hoping to come up with something that people will love, even if they have to alienate a few fans along the way. I think it's time for Rockstar to do this, and since people will always buy the game anyway, there isn't a whole lot of risk involved. Also screenshots of "new" vehicles for GTAV that were already in San Andreas is hardly impressive. The graphics look nice, but screenshots are misleading.

From the looks of the screens, you get ride a stunt plane! I love the stunt plane. I always tried seeing how long I survived while flying through a clustered city in San Andreas. Also, I'm going guess you're going to be stealing vehicles from a moving truck. So, wondering what capabilities that will lead to while driving.

One of the things I hope Rockstar does is continue the trend of 2 to 5 minute long videos detailing the game world. The ones they did for Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire were great since they showed random scenes of the game in motion, I hope they make some (with the same great narration) for GTA V.

Pre-ordered this when it was first brought to daylight, and since it's at number 1 in every pre-order list in Finland, I'd say YES, people still care about GTA. The plot is fantastic, and the freedom to do pretty much anything you wish makes people still want to buy these games after all these years. (Sorry if my english is a bit rusty, but you wouldn't understand anything if I used finnish) Yet I do hope they make the gunplay a bit more fluid...

Hey, want to play darts? Why don't you ever call me? Let's go bowling? I'm breaking up with you.

I'll pass until I see what they've done to the game to make it less damn annoying to play.

These screenshots look like they are using DirectX 11 on PC. The textures look too high-res for consoles, and the lighting looks like its using DX11. Unless Rockstar pulls a rabbit out of their hat to pull this off on consoles, my bet is PC.
